Capitol Hill’s few remaining surface parking lots are wastes of space and have been seen as a magnet for late night violence. Saturday night, one of the busiest on Broadway literally in the middle of Pike and Pine will be put to better use hosting a three-story Street Fighter II charity tourney:

Street Fighter fans and 90s kids everywhere get ready for some nostalgia as RumbleMonkey, Seattle’s newest eSports community, hosts its first-ever “Rumble in the Streets” event Saturday, October 22 from 6-11pm. Join a passionate group of casual to competitive gamers for head-to-head matches of Street Fighter II – projected against a three-story building in the heart of Capitol Hill. The event is taking place outdoors in the Diamond Parking lot on Broadway between Pike and Pine. Be sure to bring a dose of creativity for the Street Fighter II haiku contest, where the most compelling 5-7-5 syllable poem will take home a special prize.

The event from “eSports startup” RumbleMonkey is free to attend with a $10 entry fee to enter the tournament and the haiku contest.Proceeds benefit Child’s Play, “a foundation dedicated to improving the lives of children in hospitals and domestic violence shelters through the generosity and kindness of the video game industry.”

Hill locals Lost Lake Cafe, Raygun Lounge, and Mighty-O Donuts join Wizards of the Coast in helping to sponsor the event.
