  • Broadway bank robbery charge: “I’m horrible at this,” police say Murtezan Bekteshi admitted to them after the 20-year-old was arrested and found carrying “bait bills” handed out in the October bank robbery at the Broadway Market Wells Fargo. Prosecutors have charged Bekteshi for the October 22nd hold-up. Prosecutors say the about to turn 21-year-old has a history of frequent run-ins with the law and had only been out of prison for two months before the latest allegation:
    screen-shot-2016-11-07-at-11-07-50-am screen-shot-2016-11-07-at-11-07-58-amAccording to court documents, a resident at the 23rd Ave boarding house where Bekteshi has been living brought the suspect to the attention of a department of corrections officer saying he recognized the man in TV new coverage of the robbery and had loaned him the paint-stained pants seen on the suspect in security images. The resident also said Bekteshi told him he had “come into some money.”Police took Bekteshi into custody during a visit with the corrections officer and documented finding the suspect’s complete wardrobe from the paint-covered pants to ski gloves in Bekteshi’s room. They also reported finding $151 in Bekteshi’s possession, including ten two-dollar bills.

  • Broadway/Madison collision: A two-car crash at Broadway and Madison closed the intersection for hours early Monday morning and sent one person to the hospital with serious injuries. Police and Seattle Fire arrived at the crash scene around 3:30 AM after a taxi and sedan collided in what dispatchers described as a “severe impact.” Three people were injured in the crash. One person was seriously hurt and had to be extricated by arriving rescue crews. That person was transported to Harborview. The other patients refused further treatment. Police are investigating.

  • Fire investigations: Police were on the search for a possible arsonist after two small fires broke out Thursday night, November 3rd near 16th and John. Seattle Fire units were first called to the scene around 9:30 PM after a mattress was reported on fire in a parking lot in the 1600 block of E John. Seattle Police were called to the scene to investigate. Later just before midnight, a fire was reported in an alley garage near E John and 18th Ave E. Seattle Fire was able to quickly bring the blaze under control. The Fire Marshal was called to the scene to investigate along with Seattle Police.
  • Crash and assault reported: Following the fire incidents, police returned to the area near 15th and Olive St around 12:30 AM Friday, November 4th after a man reported being in a collision with another driver who got out and smashed out his windshield before fleeing the scene on foot. The victim told police the other driver had intentionally rammed his car and described the assailant suspect reported as a tall Hispanic male with bright teal nail polish, around 6’2” and 280 pounds, wearing a brown dress with floral polka dot pattern, a denim jacket, with jeans underneath. Seattle Fire was called to the scene to treat the victim. There were no immediate arrests.
  • Burglary arrest: A woman was arrested for investigation of burglary Sunday, October 30th after police were called to a Capitol Hill Housing building in the 1300 block of E Union to a report of an ex-tenant inside her old apartment. Police arrived to find a woman attempting to sleep inside the empty unit. According to the SPD report, the woman admitted she had broken in through a window in the 8 PM incident. The woman reportedly resisted arrest according to SPD but was taken into custody without incident. She was booked for investigation of felony residential burglary.
  • Halloween phone grab attempt: The witness to an attempted Halloween phone grab described four masked males attacking their victim near 14th and Harrison just after 9 PM on the 31st:
