Man hit in leg in Pine parking lot shooting

A man was shot in the leg and the shooter sped away in a black Dodge Charger as a lower Pike/Pine parking lot was again the scene of gun violence early Sunday morning.

Police sped to the area around the Parking lot at Pine just below Melrose across from the Baltic Room just before 2:45 AM to a report of gunfire. They found one victim struck in the leg after what was reported to be a single shot. One shell casing was reported found on the ground.

The victim did not suffer a life threatening injury and was conscious and alert before being taken to Harborview.

Police searched for the new model, black Doge Charger believed to have an American flag decal on its bumper that reportedly carried the shooter and briefly followed a vehicle matching that description as it traveled south on I-5 before ending the pursuit. According to East Precinct radio dispatches, the car’s plates indicated it was a rental from the Capitol Hill Enterprise. We are not aware of any arrests in the case.

UPDATE 12/19/2016 3:05 PM: Police confirmed the investigation with CHS and say details seem to indicate that the shooter and victim knew each other.

The parking lot where Sunday’s shooting took place was the setting for a fatal shooting in the summer of 2015 that claimed the life of a 23-year-old man. That case has not been solved. Meanwhile, detectives are continuing to investigate a November shooting at 13th and Olive in which a 31-year-old man died.

The Seattle Police gang unit was investigating.

I’m setting up a betting service for “which Capitol Hill parking lot will have a shooting this weekend?”

Who’s in?
