  • Escape from Julia’s: A Capitol Hill bar patron spent an uncomfortable Saturday morning trying to get home after reportedly falling asleep and being locked inside the Broadway establishment where she had been partying that night. According to East Precinct radio, police were called to the Witness bar in the 500 block of Broadway E just before 3 AM where a woman said she had woken up in the bathroom and said she was trapped inside. But when police arrived, they found only the Witness crew cleaning up and no sleepy patron. A 911 operator talked further with the woman and the patron realized she had actually passed out inside the restroom of another Broadway nightspot. Police asked her to look out the windows to try to help determine her location. She realized she was inside of Julia’s. The woman was waiting while police tried to track down somebody to come to the Broadway club to unlock the doors around 3:30 AM. We presume she was finally freed.
  • Chainsaw robbery: A landscaper finishing his work near 20th and Galer reported he was robbed of a chainsaw and other equipment in an incident reported around 5:30 PM on Thursday, March 2nd:Screen Shot 2017-03-13 at 12.01.12 PMA search for the vehicle was not successful.
  • CD gunfire: Recent gunfire incidents have Central District residents on edge but the most recent SPD callouts haven’t resulted in finding much evidence of gun crimes. Friday just before 5 PM, SPD received multiple reports of gunfire around MLK and Jackson but found only a car with a shattered window, KOMO reports. Sunday night, neighbors were worried about a report of gunfire near 23rd and Cherry but, according to police radio dispatches, only one caller reported the sound of one possible shot around 8:40 PM. The most recent SPD Sea Stat statistical report (PDF) shows the reports of shots fired so far in 2017 to be in line with recent years but a marked increase in non-fatal shootings across the city:Screen Shot 2017-03-13 at 12.16.28 PM
  • ‘Bob the Builder bandit’ suspect apprehended: Police say a tip led them to the suspect they called the “Bob the Builder bandit” who was responsible for a series of hold-ups including this February heist at Pike Grocery. The man booked is the youngest man sentenced to life in prison under Washington’s “Three Strikes” law. Conyers served more than 20 years before his sentence was commuted by Governor Jay Inslee with the support of the prosecutor and the sentencing judge. David Corneilus Conyers is currently held on $500,000 bail.
  • Potato chip assault: Police were called to the 900 block of 23rd Ave around noon on Friday, March 3rd after a mail carrier reported that a woman had randomly attacked her on the street, throwing potato chips on her and then a rock that narrowly missed. Police were soon alerted to a shoplifting incident at a nearby store where the suspect description matched the mail carrier attack:Screen Shot 2017-03-13 at 11.56.48 AMBy the time police arrived the suspect had disappeared.
  • ‘Homophobic’ assault: The Callan Berry illustrated take on this bizarre Pike/Pine assault report is here. Here is the SPD report on a March 1st incident that the victim said happened around last call after a night on Capitol Hill. The victim contacted police the following afternoon after doctors told him he had suffered a cervical sprain in the altercation. Here is the SPD report on the incident.Screen Shot 2017-03-13 at 11.47.20 AM Screen Shot 2017-03-13 at 11.49.35 AM Screen Shot 2017-03-13 at 11.49.43 AM

That “escape from Julia’s” thing is actually kind of scary to me – I’m often anxious that I’m going to pass out in a bathroom and never be found, and at public establishments I always take comfort in the presupposition that they’re going to check the bathrooms at closing time.

If this is a legitimate concern, you might want to evaluate your alcohol use. Seriously.

Helpful suggestions but I didn’t necessarily read this as getting wasted a lot, rather they might have a medical condition. Your interpretation might also be right though.

I have anxiety problems that stem from some medical conditions. I hardly ever drink and never get drunk.

The few times I have passed out people have assumed I was just drunk and got just as judgey as the above responders, incidentally, despite knowing nothing about me.

For example, one thing about me is I hardly ever touch alcohol, which is another thing people get judgey about.

Let’s not always assume the worst about others, okay?

Lets not assume if you pass out in a bar restroom your not drunk?

No one is judging you …they just think you are drunk

The report on KOMO regarding one of the CD incidents definitely implied that a car had been shot: incident:http://komonews.com/news/local/police-find-car-with-shattered-windows-after-shots-fired-in-seattles-central-district Remember also people living in an area that may have had higher than average reports of shots fired last year would only be comforted by a report that at least in their area should a reduction. People have a right to expect better, especially if the situation is or is perceived to be dangerous.
