Capitol Hill Community Post | This Weekend: 5th Annual Cap Hill Soccer Jam

There’s still time to register a team for the 5th annual Cap Hill Soccer Jam, a 4v4 round robin one-day soccer tournament taking place this Sunday, October 8th, at Seattle University Park from 10 AM – 3PM.

Registration is $100 for a team of eight. All proceeds support Street Soccer Seattle, a nonprofit organization using soccer to support homeless individuals throughout our city. The event promises a day full of games, raffles, bubble soccer and more.

Street Soccer Seattle builds a powerful community around soccer that includes individuals affected by homelessness, coaches, mentors, volunteers, and community partners. Street Soccer Seattle uses the team environment to implement a curriculum of “street skills” alongside soccer skills, helping participants set and achieve goals that lead to jobs, education, and housing.

The team holds weekly practices and plays in local soccer leagues throughout the city and aims to break down barriers between housed and un-housed neighbors. Each year, Street Soccer Seattle prepares a team to the national Street Soccer USA Cup, a tournament comprised of teams of homeless and formerly homeless individuals from across the country.

This year’s Cap Hill Soccer Jam is made possible thanks to the support of a number of generous sponsors, including: AthleticAwards.com, Café Presse, Clif Bar, Futchi, Rave Foundation, Seattle Bubble Soccer, Seattle Reign FC, Seattle Sounders FC and Senda Athletics.
