Durkan’s City Hall clean slate includes search for new Seattle City Light CEO

Kathleen O’Toole’s decision to step down from her job leading the Seattle Police Department was greeted much differently than another big change at City Hall Monday.

Where O’Toole was praised and thanked after her “personal” decision to leave the post, Seattle City Light’s head Larry Weis didn’t seem to have a chance to survive newly sworn-in Mayor Jenny Durkan’s wiping of the slate.

Infamous as the city’s highest-paid public employee, Weis was also criticized for not acting on allegations of sexism, sexual harassment, and assault inside City Light.

Durkan appointed Jim Baggs, the department’s Chief Compliance Officer, as the interim head of Seattle City Light as “a national search” is conducted to find a new full-time CEO.
