Man shot near 25th and Yesler

Police detained a man who tried to leave the scene of a Tuesday night Central District shooting in a ride-share getaway car, according to the SPD report on the incident.

SPD says the victim was shot in the stomach but suffered non-life threatening injuries in the assault reported just around 10:30 PM Tuesday:

Officers were called to the 100 block of 25 Avenue South just before 10:30 p.m. Tuesday for multiple reports of shots fired. When police arrived they found a man with a single gunshot wound to the stomach. The victim’s friend said they were walking down the street when they heard multiple gunshots but didn’t know where they were coming from. The two men began to run away until the victim fell to the ground due to the wound he sustained.

The victim, a man in his 20s according to Seattle Fire, was transported to Harborview.

Officers detained the suspect after a ride-share driver arrived at the shooting scene and then left, telling police his rider didn’t want to leave until there were no police in the area. Police found the man inside a nearby home and took him into custody. A loaded handgun was also found in the residence.

SPD gang unit detectives are investigating.

We were on such a good run. That house on 25th and Yesler is a problem.

Was there some indication this was a bias crime?
