Intrigue Chocolate and Coffeehouse warms up at 15th and Madison

Chocolate and coffee? Intriguing.

The new Intrigue Chocolate and Coffeehouse has been warming up with some test runs serving friends and family at 15th and Madison. Neighbors should be able to stop through for a quiet opening later this week as things get fully up to speed at the new cafe.

Aaron Barthel and Karl Mueller started Intrigue in Pioneer Square as a forum for chocolate as an art, not a science. “Aaron likes to use chocolate as a medium to express what he knows about flavor,” Mueller told CHS when we talked to him in October about their plans for 15th and Madison.

The new coffeehouse is envisioned as a space to be “greeted by the delicious smell of fresh coffee, warm quick breads, and cacao beans in the mill,” and a cafe that emphasizes a “general abundance” in a welcoming space for discovering chocolate, Mueller said.

The opening will fill in a retail space left empty since Healeo departed the corner in 2016 and knock yet another name of our list of Capitol Hill bars, restaurants, and cafes to look forward to in 2018.

Intrigue Chocolate and Coffeehouse is located at 1520 15th Ave. Hours are planned to be 7 AM to 7 PM. You can learn more at intriguechocolate.com.
