“I got really scared once I started looking at spaces and price tags,” shop owner Laurie Kearney told CHS at the debut of the new space during Thursday’s Capitol Hill art walk. “I got really discouraged and freaked out. But then I got a phone call from Jody Hall.”
In February, CHS reported on Hall’s changes at her E Pike Cupcake Royale and the new new retail space added to the Chophouse Row preservation-friendly development.
Kearney took a positive approach to learning late last year that Ghost Gallery was losing its seven-year home at 504 E Denny so the apartment building could add a lucrative new housing unit.
The new Ghost Gallery snuggles up against Cupcake Royale and connects through to the retail warren of Chophouse Row. In addition to snuggling with Cupcake Royale, Ghost joins Chophouse and Baker Linen Supply Co. building retailers like Retrofit Home and Honed, a custom jewelry shop and studio.
“I really wanted to maintain the welcoming, kind of cozy, not intimidating vibe that Ghost Gallery had,” Kearney said.
Ghost Gallery is located at 1424 11th Ave, down the stairs from the Chophouse Row courtyard. You can learn more at ghostgalleryshop.com.
