• IHOP robbery: Police were called to the E Madison IHOP late Friday night after a man claiming to be armed robbed the restaurant and fled. According to East Precinct radio dispatches, the suspect entered the restaurant around 11:30 PM and approached the cashier with a hand in his pocket and claiming to be armed. The bandit grabbed cash from the register and fled on foot. He was described only as an older black male in his 40s, heavyset and around 5’11”, wearing a white pullover coat, grey and blue beanie, black pants, and black shoes, and was “possibly high or intoxicated.” Police searched the area but there were no immediate arrests.
• ‘Help the officer call’ at Safeway: A large swarm of police rushed to the 1410 E John Safeway Sunday night just before 6 PM as an officer was reported in a fight with a suspect outside the grocery store. Several police vehicles sped to the scene where the officer ended up in a struggle with a suspect who had previously been reported threatening security and spitting outside the store. Seattle Fire was also called to the scene after the suspect was taken into custody but we do not know details of the dispatch. No officers were injured. The suspect was taken into custody and police used a “spit sock” — a hood used to prevent suspects from spitting on police — as he was placed in an SPD vehicle, according to a witness at the scene.
• MLK/Jackson shootout: Police investigated another round of gunfire in the Central District on Friday afternoon around 2:30 PM near MLK and Jackson. With reports from the nearby Seattle Fire house, police found shells near the scene and searched for a black SUV-style vehicle reportedly involved in the shootout. There were no reported injuries. A vehicle matching the description of the involved SUV was later found on the Eastside with its back window shot out. According to the latest SPD statistical analysis crime report (PDF), shootings remain ahead of last year’s pace in the city:

• Operation Triple Beam Jet City: The U.S. Marshals office says 72 “violent offenders” with gang ties were pulled off Seattle streets in a multi-agency operation over the past three months.
• Cal Anderson robbery: A homeless man had his ankle busted in an assault and robbery in Cal Anderson Park reported the afternoon of Wednesday, October 10th. According to the report on the incident, the man told police he awoke with a known assailant stomping on his ankle:
  According to police, the victim was transported to Harborview for surgery to repair three broken bones in his ankle from the assault. There were no reported arrests.
• QFC kitchenware robbery: A Wednesday morning, October 3rd shoplifting incident involving hundreds of dollars of kitchen goods at the Broadway Market QFC turned into a robbery investigation after the suspect ran and threatened to stab police as he was chased down and taken into custody. According to the SPD report on the 8:30 AM incident, police were called to the 400 block of Broadway E where the suspect was on the ground struggling with store security after he had been observed entering the store and heading straight for the housewares section and began filling a large black bag. The suspect was able to elude security and the SPD began a foot chase, finally running the suspect and his bag down near Bolyston and E Olive Way. Police say the bag was filled with nearly $400 of pots and pans. They also found an unusual “to do” list:
  The suspect was taken into custody and booked for investigation of robbery.
