Hilloween 2018: Broadway carnival, Volunteer Park pet costume parade, Chophouse Courtyard of Chaos, Capitol Hill trick or treating

Capitol Hill takes Halloween rather seriously. 2018 will once again bring multiple days of costumed fun with events for big kids, little kids, and, for the first time, furry kids across the Hill. Meanwhile, the bars and clubs of Pike/Pine and Broadway draw plenty of ghouls and boys and make the streets prime zones for creature watching. And the neighborhood’s suburban residential zones are well-stocked with candy when it’s time for trick or treating. Details on Hilloween 2018 are below.

You and a furry friend or two will need your first Hilloween costume of 2018 ready to go by October 21st. That Sunday brings the first ever Halloween Pet Parade in Volunteer Park:

Expect “pets in costumes,” food trucks, prizes, and vendor booths from organizers at the Volunteer Park Trust.

The Capitol Hill Chamber of Commerce’s family-friendly Hilloween 2018 celebration takes place Saturday, October 27th with a kids carnival at Seattle Central’s Mitchell Activity Center and a trick-or-treat parade down Broadway:

A new addition to Hilloween this year will be the Courtyard of Chaos at 11th Ave’s Chop House Row from 3 to 6 PM.

As for big kids, October 31st falls on a Wednesday this year but that likely won’t stop Friday the 26th and Saturday the 27th (not to mention Sunday the 28th and so on) to be Hilloween madhouses around Capitol Hill’s nightlife areas. Here is what we saw over the weekend last year. Yikes!

Save your best costume idea for last. The 31st brings mobs of trick or treaters to northeaster Capitol Hill in the neighborhoods around St. Joe’s and Stevens Elementary. It’s a zoo. And a lot of fun. Here are some of the spooooky things we saw in 2017.
