Developer Real Wave Capital and architect Workshop AD have been collecting feedback and will hold a community meeting Thursday night at the Capitol Hill library starting at 4 PM.
“We want to hear from the community about what you want to see at this property,” the developers for the Belmont Z condos write.
“Please share your ideas about designs and activities for the new building and any other thoughts that would help us understand your concerns and priorities for this property and neighborhood overall.”
The project will still be shaped by the city’s design review process but the new early outreach is hoped to give citizens earlier — and, hopefully, better — opportunities to weigh in on changes planned on their surrounding streets. While the city has set up a website for the program with a calendar and a blog outlining individual outreach sessions, communication around the program is hit or miss at best. Thursday night’s session isn’t listed on the city’s schedule.
Planned for the 300 block of Belmont Ave E, the project is slated to replace a 1908-built four-plex at the corner with Thomas. The developer purchased the property in June for just under $2 million, according to King County records.
Developers say that they hope to dig in on construction by spring of 2020 with an opening and new condos on the market a year later in 2021.
