As Capitol Hill’s community council has shifted to focus more on events and causes — believe CHS, you could do a lot worse — First Hill’s central community organization has stuck to a more traditional approach tackling neighborhood issues and discussing opportunities at its monthly meetings.

Tuesday night brings the March meeting of the First Hill Improvement Association. If you are interested, it takes place starting at 6 PM at Terry Ave’s Frye Art Museum. The March agenda centers on homelessness issues in the neighborhood:

At this month’s public meeting, representatives from St. James Cathedral, Compass at First Presbyterian, The City of Seattle Navigation Team, R.E.A.C.H. & Harborview Hall Shelter will be presenting on topics related to homelessness and social services in First Hill.

In December, CHS reported on the Harborview Hall Shelter and the long wait to finally put the county’s building back into use.

The improvement association, meanwhile, got a new leader last year as Anne McCullough moved to First Hill from St. Louis to become executive director at the FHIA. “The passion that people have here isn’t different to what I experienced in Cherokee Station,” McCullough told CHS. “People want to be involved.”
