The City of Seattle is looking for Capitol Hill community members to serve on a Citizen Advisory Committee to help develop a new Master Plan for Broadway’s Seattle Central to guide the school’s future development.

“Volunteers would serve on a Citizen Advisory Committee (CAC) which is made up of neighborhood residents with experience in neighborhood organizations and issues, land use and zoning, architecture, landscaping, economic development, building development or educational services who will work with the City and SCC,” the city announcement reads.

The citizen committees are a key component of long term planning around major institutions including Seattle Central, Seattle U, and large campuses like Capitol Hill Kaiser Permanente and the process CHS reported on last year to begin shaping the hospital’s expansion.

“The Advisory Committee will meet monthly in the evening on campus for two years or until the Master Plan is completed. More frequent meetings may be necessary at times,” the city announcement reads.

Seattle Central’s future development will be part of the wave of changes reshaping Broadway. Earlier this year, CHS wrote about some of the challenges and opportunities on the horizon for SCC including a transformation of the Broadway Performance Hall.
