  • Hatchet assault: Police took one man into custody but say the victim refused medical attention after an assault with a hatchet in Cal Anderson Park Sunday morning. According to the SPD report on the incident, police and medics were called to a large disturbance in the park around 11:30 AM and were flagged down by the suspect who admitted he had struck the other man in the head with the hatchet. Police detained the suspect and located the victim in a tent inside the park. “The victim stated he was hit in the head with a hatchet as he intervened in the disturbance near the encampment,” the SPD report reads. “As Seattle Fire was responding to the scene, the victim refused all medical assistance. Officers were not able to persuade the victim to wait for Seattle Fire to evaluate his injury.” Police say the suspect was booked into the King County Jail for investigation of assault.
  • Lake WA Blvd arsons: An arson fire in a home in the 100 block of Lake Washington Blvd E was part of a string of break-ins and fires set inside homes in the area Sunday afternoon. Seattle Fire was called to the residential fire around 2:15 PM and found that the front door of the house had been left open but nobody was home. Multiple fires has been set inside as security video showed a woman wondering through the house before lighting the fires. Medics were then called to an area south of the residence to a report of a woman down at the scene. Police responded and located the woman from the surveillance video being treated by SFD. Police say the suspect admitted to breaking into seven homes in the area and setting the fires. She was booked into King County Jail for investigation of arson and burglary.
  • Madrona electrocution accident: A terrible incident Saturday at the Madrona Grace Presbyterian Church left one man dead and another with life-threatening injuries after a metal ladder the father and son were working with fell on a power line:

At approximately 3:20pm, the Seattle Fire Department responded to a medical call related to an industrial accident in the 800 block of 32nd Avenue. A 52-year-old man and a 27-year-old man had been working on the outside of a building using an aluminum ladder. Both men were standing on the ground attempting to move the ladder when a strong gust of wind blew the top of it into a nearby power line. Both men were electrocuted. The older man died at the scene and the younger man was transported to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.

    SPD investigated the incident.

  • Stolen truck and motorcycle arrest: A man found sleeping in a stolen truck on Hiawatha Place S with a stolen motorcycle in its bed was taken into custody after a short chase with police. According to the SPD report on the November 4th incident, police woke the man around 9:30 PM and attempted to take him into custody. “The male struggled during the arrest, striking an officer in the face and later dropping a handgun from his clothing,” the report on the incident reads. Police eventually chased the suspect down and he was taken into custody. He was booked into the King County Jail for two counts of possession of stolen property, and assault.
  • Ring ripoff: A Capitol Hill mail thief made off with a one-of-a-kind piece of jewelry. The victim in the November 5th theft is hoping somebody might spot the unique ring in an area pawnshop of for sale online:

Great… tent campers in Cal Anderson attacking each other with hatchets… remind me why we tolerate people living in the park?

I think the people of capitol hill have brought this upon themselves. They yell about stopping sweeps and defunding the police, well they turned a previous safe place for LGBT people into a hellscape.

Looks like I’ll join the rest of the gays in White Center.

Your comment is really short-sighted and making wild assumptions. Many of us gays are also moving eastside!

15 years in the Hill and can’t wait to get out of Crapitol Hell.

I mean, Capitol Hill turned into a hellscape for this particular queer the night that I was bombed and gassed for standing on a street corner with a sign, so I’m not sure the blame lies where you’re saying it does.

I mean, if we want to point fingers and name names, it was Lt. John Brooks of SPD who pumped enough tear gas into my lungs to make the safe place no longer safe for me.

I’ve already left.

I’m sorry, a hatchet?! At what point will it be enough? I don’t have an answer to fixing mental health or addiction problems in this country but the answer is NOT to just let people just take over our public spaces and sit back while they kill each other.
