Homicide investigation after woman’s body found in wooded area of Interlaken Park

Seattle Police say homicide detectives are investigating after a woman was found dead Sunday in a small stream below the wooded Interlaken Park.

SPD reports a resident called 911 about the woman’s body found Sunday afternoon lying in the stream in a wooded area behind a house in the 1900 block of E Eaton Place in the Montlake neighborhood.

“The body was found lying in a small stream with no access route except through the caller’s garden,” SPD’s report reads. “Due to the condition of the body and the location, the on-scene investigation yield no obvious information about the circumstance that led to the death.”

The King County Medical Examiner’s Office has determined that the death is a homicide.

Police said earlier this week that the victim had yet to be identified.

SPD is asking anyone with information about the case to call its Violent Crimes tip line at 206-233-5000.

In 2016, CHS reported on homelessness, addiction, and death in Interlaken Park after the discovery of two bodies in the greenbelt’s wooded ravines.
