A man was gunned down Sunday night on First Hill in a bout of gunfire witnesses said involved more than a dozen shots and multiple people with guns.
The deadly shooting was reported just before 8:30 PM Sunday at 9th and Marion where witnesses said a man was down and a suspect was seen fleeing the area by car, according to East Precinct radio updates.
SPD says its officers arrived within minutes and found the male victim with multiple gunshot wounds. Police began CPR until Seattle Fire Department medics arrived.
Medics transported the victim reported by Seattle Fire to be a man approximately 30 years old to Harborview where he died.
Sunday night’s murder marks the 22nd homicide in Seattle so far in 2021 amid an increase in gun violence and deadly incidents across the city including Central Seattle. Two weeks ago, 21-year-old Sultan Ujaama was gunned down in the Central District at 23rd and Jackson. In 2020, the city recorded 52 homicides, up from 35 in 2019.

UPDATE: Police were also investigating an earlier shooting in the East Precinct on Sunday. According to the SPD brief on the incident, a man was brought to Harborview with non-life threatening injuries from a gunshot wound just before 7 PM. Police learned the shooting occurred in an encampment near Yesler Terrace Park. The camp was checked and no additional victims were found as police collected evidence at the scene. There were no announced arrests.
