• Roastery carjacking crash charges: Prosecutors say the suspected driver in the March 1st carjacking crash outside Capitol Hill’s Starbucks Roastery has been charged in the crime. The King County Prosecutor’s office announced Nathaniel McRae is being held on $100,000 bail as he faces charges of first degree robbery and attempting to elude police. McRae also faces a charge of kidnapping. CHS reported on the Tuesday, March 1st incident in which McRae is alleged to have stolen the black Lexus downtown as the owner of the vehicle dangled from a window before being able to pull himself inside as the car raced up Capitol Hill and McRae crashed near the roastery venue.

  No arrests in Capitol Hill homicide cases: SPD continues to seek the public’s assistance in solving two recent murders involving Capitol Hill homeless men. Jonathan Caradonna, 32, died Saturday, March 19th after suffering multiple stab wounds in an assault near 13th Ave E. Brent Wood, 31, was found beaten to death on the pavement behind the Broadway Rite Aid early on the morning of Thursday, March 3rd. Anyone with information is asked to call the SPD Violent Crimes Tip Line at (206) 233-5000.

• First Hill driver vs. pole: A First Hill gas station had to be shut down Sunday morning after an argument between friends over a borrowed car ended with a collision that badly damaged a City Light utility pole. Power was knocked out in the area during the repairs. Police say the just before 4 AM wreck happened during “a disturbance” involving the victim’s vehicle:
  

  A friend claims to have been given permission to drive the victim’s vehicle and suddenly drove away from an argument at a high rate of speed. The vehicle was then involved in a single car collision to City Light power pole in the 900blk of James St. sheering the City Light pole and lowering the high-power lines. This collision also occurred approx. 20 feet from gas pumps/station. James Street was closed down to vehicle traffic both East and West bound between 9 Av/Boren Av. Traffic was redirected.

  SPD says the area was closed to traffic and the gas station shut down so crews could respond to repair the damaged pole. The pole was replaced, power lines secured, and traffic was reopened by noon Sunday, SPD says. There were no reported serious injuries.
