Seattle Fire responded to a fire Thursday afternoon in one of the remaining single family style home mid-block along 11th Ave E between E John and Denny just north of Cal Anderson. The old home is one of a handful lined up to be demolished to make way for a new housing development.
SFD said the fire was quickly brought under control and there were no reported injuries in the just before 3 PM response.
E John was closed in all directions as Seattle Fire vehicles filled the area during the response.

The 1901-built home damaged in the fire is lined up to be part of multifamily redevelopment planned on the block. A company owned by area developer Ben Maritz purchased the property for $1.65 million in late 2021 according to King County records.
CHS reported here on an eight-story, nearly 300-unit apartment complex being planned to jigsaw into the block.
Seattle Fire was working to determine the cause of Thursday’s blaze.
