89-year-old in custody after wife shot and killed in Squire Park home — UPDATE

Seattle Police say they took an 89-year-old man into custody Tuesday afternoon after he told officers he shot his wife in their residence near 15th and Alder in the Squire Park neighborhood. Police found the 83-year-old woman dead inside.

SPD reports the 89-year-old contacted police just before 2 PM. A Seattle Police officer dispatched to the scene requested homicide detectives to the home minutes later.

Police say the man was taken into custody and detectives are investigating the scene at the tiny 122-year-old Central District house where the shooting took place.

UPDATE 6/8/2022: Police tell CHS the man was taken into custody after coming to the East Precinct at 12th and Pine to report the shooting.

That’s closer than I thought. The ages make me wonder if dementia was involved, or something else related to health.
