O Maki Rolls + Teriyaki joining North Capitol Hill cluster of food and drink around The Roanoke

Delivery and takeout friendly sushi rolls and teriyaki are joining a cluster of North Capitol Hill restaurants.

Plans for a “togo” version of Greenwood-born O Maki Rolls + Teriyaki are taking shape for the 10th Ave E space formerly home to the last Capitol Hill stand of Amante Pizza, the one-time E Olive Way joint notorious for its obnoxiously flashing signage.

Permits show owner Veronica Utz is preparing the 10th Ave E restaurant space for an expansion of her sushi roll and teriyaki business. It will be a small, efficient endeavor — the new O Maki will weigh in at all of 1,178 feet. The original opened on Palatine Ave N in August 2020.

Two years later, the new O Maki will join a couple blocks where a small collection of North Capitol Hill food and drink have settled in. D’ La Santa is now marking five years of business in the area with its family approach to great Mexican food. Around the corner, Gyro House has held down its space with Iraqi-style mediterranean just off 10th Ave E. Oldtimers Pagliacci — and its new-er slice bar — and The Roanokecoming up on 30 years — round out the bill.

O Maki Rolls + Teriyaki will be open at 2357 10th Ave E later this year. You can learn more and follow along @omakiseattle.
