A memorial to mark the life of D’Vonne Pickett, Jr. will be held Thursday morning at Climate Pledge Arena.
The public memorial service honoring Pickett’s life is slated to begin at 11 AM.
Pickett was gunned down last month outside The Postman, the mailing services shop he opened with his wife KeAnna Pickett in 2018 at MLK and Union. The father, business owner, and youth football coach was 31.
The man charged in Pickett’s murder amid a “psychotic” string of shootings leading up to the MLK and Union killing is slated to enter his plea in the case this week. CHS also reported on a mistake made in the dispatch process for Seattle Fire that cost valuable minutes in the efforts to save Pickett’s life.
The Seattle Kraken who make their home ice at Climate Pledge have supported the Pickett family and hosted a charity auction to raise money on their behalf. An ongoing community fundraiser has also raised thousands for Pickett’s wife and children.
