Investigating ‘the golden age of Capitol Hill bagels’

We truly are blessed — this really is a golden age for bagels around Capitol Hill. Videographer and Northwest Film Forum board member Becky Bruhn sent along this video “investigation” of the pillowy and chewy goodness.

First of all, this woman does not know how to pronounce “baygel” like a NYer

Second of all they include Eltana, which is its own category (Montreal)

Third of all this guy puts cream cheese on the side of the bagel

Fourth of all they’re not judging consistently (always the same kind of schmear etc) so you’re only judging the differences between the bagels

Fifth of all, they left out Dingfelders, which is super close to Eltana and is baking their own bagels out of Blazing Bagels dough (and the results are different). The also could have included OxBow which is Capitol Hill-adjacent.

Seriously though, I love this video, this topic, and the fact that we have great bagels all around us now!

I don’t know which is better, they’re all delish. But they missed Dingfelders. Great vid anyway.
