An armed robbery cleared out a cash register and left employees and customers shaken Wednesday night at the Broadway Market QFC.
According to SPD and East Precinct radio reports, the suspect brandished a switchblade-style knife and demanded cash from the register in the 9 PM hold-up at the north Broadway store.
A QFC checker handed over the money and the man fled from the the 400 block Broadway E grocery.
SPD says there were no reported injuries.
A search for the suspect was not successful. No suspect description was broadcast or provided by SPD.

This is terrible. I’m glad no one was hurt. But what is the purpose of the one-way security gate and the security guards then? They don’t need to wrestle a guy with a knife, but you’re telling me they couldn’t keep eyes on him until the cops came? I guess he’ll have been on every camera in the joint, but still… damn
Don’t blame the security guard and QFC for Seattle’s de-policing, de-prosecuting, drug legalizing sh*tshow
Yet another reason to avoid shopping at that store, which is mediocre at best.
I feel for the staff (especially the cashier) who had to experience this violent act.
“Avoid shopping” there? Where else do you expect people to go? For many of us, it’s the most convenient store for where they live. There have been incidents like this at the Safeway on 15th, so that’s not necessarily any safer. Plus the extra effort to get there, if you’re not strong enough, and bus fare there and back takes another chunk out of the money you have. Have some empathy for those of us who can’t afford to have our food delivered.
Keep that ice cream locked up!
you’ll be overjoyed to learn it’s no longer locked up.
