It’s a long way from Portland’s famed lots but a food truck court on Capitol Hill is finally starting to roll.
Over the weekend, a trailer from Momo’s Kebab made its debut in the E Madison court behind the Black Rock Spirits headquarters and Tequila Lab events space.
CHS reported earlier this year on the spirit maker’s return to Capitol Hill and overhaul of the former art studio and one-time drive-thru dry cleaners into a new office and event space for the creators of the Sparkle Donkey tequila brand.
Black Rock included space for food trucks and trailers with hopes of becoming part of Pike/Pine’s weekend late night eats scene. A variety of trucks and trailers pops up around E Pike on the weekends and summer nights along with the neighborhood’s robust hot dog stand economy.

Open “most days” and late on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday nights, Momo’s is now part of the E Madison lot where you might also find other trucks and pop-ups like El Chapulin Oaxaqueno.
“Hey hey 👋🏽 should have been able to make this announcement like 6 months ago but the construction on Madison had other plans for us 🙃,” Momo’s said in its post about the opening in the CHS Facebook Group. “Anyways, we’re excited to announce that we’re finally open!!! Slingin’ gyros, kebabs, shawarma, and falafel most days of the week.”
Seattle, meanwhile, has taken small steps to try to do more to foster the city’s food truck scene which can, like the pop-up scene, provide opportunities for small scale food and drink ventures to test out ideas and grow businesses. Late last year, the city council included new rules allowing food trucks to operate closer to existing restaurants in legislation to make it easier to create street cafes.
At the Tequila Lab, there’s no central website for the truck court but you can check out momoskebabseattle.com to learn more. You’ll find the lot at 1000 E Madison.
