  • Antles murder investigation: There have been no updates or arrest announced in the Matthew Antles murder investigation. The homeless man who typically could be found camping in his hammock in Cal Anderson was found down by police outside Cornish College’s Kerry Hall on E Roy just off Broadway on October 5th. Police said they believed Antles had suffered self-inflicted stab wounds when he was initially hospitalized. It was later determined that he had been shot. Antles died of his injuries October 17th and SPD launched its homicide investigation. Police are looking for anybody with information about Antles and what happened to him the night he was found outside Kerry Hall. You can reach the SPD Violent Crimes Tip Line at (206) 233-5000.
  • Broadway bank break-in: A person suffering an apparent mental health or drug crisis busted through the glass and entered the US Bank at Broadway and E Olive Way Saturday night. Police were called around 10:30 PM by a worker inside the bank who said that someone had busted through glass to enter the building. According to East Precinct radio updates, police were able to quickly contact the person and call for a ambulance to come to the scene to provide treatment and transport for observation. There were no reported serious injuries and no arrests.
  • Eluding suspect video: SPD hasn’t said why it has released video of a September foot chase and arrest through the streets of Pike/Pine involving a CHOP demonstrator a month following the incident. In the video posted late Friday to the department’s blog, SPD says the Saturday, September 23rd, 2:00 AM arrest involved a man already wanted for felony eluding into custody. The video shows what police say is a motorcycle rider driving the “wrong way” on E Pike. “This was a concern due to the area being crowded with traffic and patrons of the nearby businesses,” SPD writes. “The suspect driver was seen violating numerous traffic laws as he continued traveling northbound on 11th Avenue.” The video later shows an officer attempt to make contact with the rider outside the E Pike Shell station when the helmeted man starts running. Police eventually track the alleged rider down hiding under a car outside E Pine’s Rancho Bravo where he is taken into custody. SPD does not identify the suspect in the post or the video. According to SPD, the man taken into custody was Mario Reets, a demonstrator who became a regular presence during the two weeks the CHOP camp formed around the East Precinct. Court records show Reets has been wanted on a warrant related to this 2020 high speed chase onto I-5 in the days following the clearance of the CHOP protesters. Reets continues to face a charge of eluding in that case but no additional charges have been filed related to the September arrest, according to court records. Reets was jailed after the September chase but released on bail five days later. UPDATE: “These videos are posted at our discretion,” SPD tells CHS about the blotter post.

  • Pike/Pine pedestrian injured: A pedestrian was struck by a driver last week at 12th and Pike. Seattle Fire says it responded to the intersection just before 10:30 PM on Tuesday, October 24th after the crash was reported. SFD says it treated a 43-year-old in stable condition who was taken to Harborview. The driver reportedly remained at the scene. There were no arrests reported.
  • Broadway fire: The cause of a Sunday night dumpster fire that nearly extended to a nearby Broadway apartment building could not be determined, Seattle Fire reports. SFD said it responded to the Sunday, October 22nd blaze in the 700 block of Broadway E around 6:45 PM and crews were able to put the fire out before it could extend to the building. There were no reported injuries and no significant damage reported.
  • Stabbing video help? The Seattle Police Department is taking the unusual step of asking for help collecting evidence after a suspect has already been charged. SPD posted an update calling for assistance from anybody who might have video from the early Friday, October 20th knife assault that police say left four people injured:
Homicide detectives seeking help from the community in obtaining further information about this stabbing that occurred Friday morning in Capitol Hill. If you have cell phone footage or any information, please call the Violent Crimes Tip Line at (206) 233-5000. When calling into the tip line, you have the option to remain anonymous.
The call for help follows prosecutors announcing charges in the case.

Homeless are most likely to be victims of criminals, and the left enabled it by attacking SPD and allowing criminals to take over streets. And also by allowing homeless to live outside. The far left hurts the people they pretend to care about.

This police chase video shows someone on a motorcycle weaving through and around a whole bunch of illegally parked cars (double parked, parked in the center turn lane) at what appears to be a reasonable speed. When they start chasing on foot, you can see them running through the same illegally parked cars.

Whatever outstanding warrants there were, the “violating numerous traffic laws” statement ignores the many many other people violating numerous traffic laws.
