Seattle Police and a K9 unit flooded the streets around the Ruckus Capitol Hill pot shop but could not track down the suspect in a Friday night armed robbery at the store.
According to SPD and East Precinct radio updates, the gunman walked into the E Republican at 15th pot shop just before midnight and demanded money. The suspect reportedly made off with around $3,000 in cash.
He was described as a black male in his 40s, wearing all black with a t-shirt or mask wrapped over his face, wearing black work boots, carrying a black or grey bag, and armed with a handgun.
Police searched the area around 15th and Republican before calling off the unsuccessful search around 12:30 AM.
There were no reported injuries.
The Ruckus shop has been frequently targeted over the years including a $5,000 heist in 2018 and another hold-up in 2019. A thief also smashed a truck into the shop to bust into the business in 2021.
Meanwhile, The Reef pot shop at E Olive Way and Denny is hoping to reopen soon after its building was badly damaged in a smash and grab burglary earlier this year.
Most recent ripoffs targeting Seattle’s cannabis shops are reported to mostly target product as the store’s have implemented improved security efforts to protect the cash-only businesses.

This would never happen again if these shops were allowed to take card payments like every other type of business.
Oh, really?
Small businesses in America that take credit cards get robbed all the time. You don’t read? https://www.capitolhillseattle.com/2024/04/capitol-hill-7-eleven-robbed-at-gunpoint/
Tell it to the federal government!
At least far less than they currently do, like I’d still pay cash, but I operate in cash for most things. Cards are for convenience, cash is for profile.
Does this ever happen to Uncle Ike’s? They’re directly across the street from Ruckus and one block down from The Reef and I feel like I never see this happen to them, even though they don’t even have security at their Olive Way location. (Funny, they even have signs in their parking lot at their spot by Ruckus saying “NO PARKING FOR RUCKUS CLIENTS”)
Weird, huh?
i think its cause Ruckus has an airlock?
