Filmed in the Seattle area (mainly Des Moines but some Cap Hill locations as well – says Blank Tom in the comments below), The Penitent Man is a Science Fiction movie that will premiere tomorrow at the Egyptian (the event starts at 6:30 pm and tickets go on sale at 1pm). The movie stars Lance Henriksen (of Millenium fame) and is directed/co-written by Nicholas Gyeney. Both Gyeney and his co-writer Trevor Tillman are from the Seattle area. CHS news partner The Seattle Times captured the movie during filming last year in a photo essay . Here is the plot synopsis:
The Penitent Man tells the story of young psychologist Dr. Jason Pyatt. A man devoted to his work. A man torn from his family.
With his struggling marriage and mounting bills, Dr. Pyatt is at a crossroads with the life he has chosen and the life he could have.
However, a fortuitous encounter with the mysterious Mr. Darnell will force Dr. Pyatt to open his eyes and change the course of his future, and possibly the world, forever.
I saw them filming this in front of Blooms on Broadway. You get a glimpse of it at 2:07 in the trailer.
yeah, they sent a letter around to the houses/apartments on denny & harvard because they were filming in our alley behind dick’s. that was only about a month ago, though, so i’m surprised it’s already in theatre!
My son,Trevor Tillman, is a co-writer and co-producer he is also working hard on the PR, so please go and see it. It is the hard work of a number of young people breaking in to the film world. Who I, for one, look forward to seeing more from them. See you there!
how do i get contact nicholas gyeney?
This is one of the worst movies I have ever seen. Besides “the failling” Nicholas’ actual first attempt. If you enjoy movies, if you enjoy independent movies, if you enjoy science fiction and even if you enjoy bad movies DO NOT SEE THIS. Filmmaking is an art and this movie is not artistic and barely even a movie. It feels more like a terrible pilot hoping to get on television but won’t. I am sincere when I tell you all not to see this film, I cannot stress it enough. It is a privilege to make films Nicholas – find a new career path or audiences will do it for you.
