Speak Out Seattle is holding its final pre-primary candidate forum at the Northwest African American Museum which is housed in the historic Colman School. Community members advocated for over 25 years to house this museum at this location where it opened in 2008. There are 36 affordable apartment units above the museum, which features Jimi Hendrix and many other Seattle icons.
We had previously scheduled this for May 15 with all viable candidates confirmed, but offered to move it to allow the candidates to attend an important endorsement event scheduled after they confirmed. We offered multiple dates, but unfortunately had to choose the one where most candidates could come. The following candidates have agreed to attend: Logan Bowers, Sara Brereton, Pat Murikami , Ami Nguyen, Egan Orion and Councilmember Zach DeWolf and incumbent, Kshama Sawant.
We are super jazzed to have highly-respected Essex Porter of Kiro 7 Television moderate! His 40 years of experience will be a great bonus for our final event. SOS will submit two questions relevant to our advocacy topics and audience questions will be given to the moderator to select.
Light refreshments will be provided. Candidates will be staying after the forum to meet with constituents so we encourage attendees to bring questions, vouchers, donations and/or be prepared to sign up and volunteer for your preferred candidate.
This is the final event in a series of forums that SOS will be hosting across the city districts. Our District 1, 2, 4, 6 and 7 Forums have already been held with very large standing room only turnouts. The forums in their entirety can be viewed on our YouTube channel (https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCzfJPWrboZQscERxMs37g8A)
