The First Hill offices of the Archdiocese of Seattle were burglarized over the weekend but the thief left an important religious relic untouched, according to Seattle Police.
SPD announced it is investigating the weekend burglary after an employee called police Monday morning to report someone had pried open several doors:
Staff found a burglar had rummaged through offices on several floors of the five-story building, and were still trying to figure out what was taken in the break-in. So far, employees have found cash and a laptop were missing, and one staff member reported a thief had taken a stash of change he had set aside for use in the building’s vending machines.
While a laptop and cash were among the items reported stolen, the burglary apparently wasn’t interested in a religious relic in Archbishop J. Peter Sartain’s office. The relic was described as “priceless,” according to East Precinct radio dispatches.
East Precinct burglary detectives are investigating.
