Another issue today was flooding of some streets where slush and snow have clogged the drains. I dug out mine and released a huge amount of water that had pooled up. In 1996 my house almost flooded from such a stopped street drain. So if all of us tended to nearby street drains, a potential source of flooding could be avoided.

I used google maps street view to find the drains on my street since the snow is so stacked, they were too hard to find just looking around outside. I quickly dug them out with my dust pan. It took about 10 minutes to dig out the whole block. We have a major standing water issue right now, so I am hoping this will help.
