Thursday March 28

  • Author reading: The God Problem: How a Godless Cosmos Creates. Philosophor Howard Bloom discusses a key to the birth of the cosmos, with no mysticism or divine impetus. “Whether you are a scientist or a hyper-curious layperson, Bloom’s argument will rock your world.” A rather curious booking during Passover and Easter week, no?   • The T.A.M.I. Show is a legendary concert film which introduced rock ‘n soul culture and includes performances by Motown superstars, James Brown, Rolling Stones, Chuck Berry, and go-go dancing. RSVP through Yelp is required. Happy hour at 5:30, screening at 7p.
  • East Precinct Advisory Council Community Meeting: This month features guest presenters from the SPD’s Domestic Violence Victim Support Team, which provides critical support to victims. Also, East Precinct Command staff will give updates and answer questions from the community. Seattle University Chardin Hall, Room 142 (1020 East Jefferson), 6;30 – 8p.
  • Then is Also Now lecture series: tonight’s edition features guests Klara Glosova, Greg Lundren, Todd Jannausch, Matthew Offenbacher, Joey Veltkamp, and Sierra Stinson. Frye Art Museum (704 Terry Ave), 6:30p.
  • Eiderdown Sound Salon features odd art, a reading, and four musical performances (including Jon Collin from UK and John Krausbauer both of whom also perform Friday at Cairo). InArtsCollective (17th and Olive), 7 – 10p.
  • APRIL Fest readings: start with a happy hour reading curated by Pageboy Magazine at Vermillion at 5:30p, then walk a block north to Richard Hugo House for the APRIL Showcase featuring readings from Matthew Rohrer, Heather Christle, and Rauan Klassnik.  7:30 – 9:30p.
  • The Bushwick Book Club performs original music inspired by the Bible. With performances by the book club members and guests Seattle Jazz Composers Ensemble, and members of Captain Smartypants and Sensible Shoes. A second performance is on Saturday, same time. Town Hall, 8 – 10p.

  • Sakura-Con takes over the WA State Convention Center all weekend.
  • VIA Art show: Local artists express their interpretation of the last walk of Jesus to the cross. Includes visual, dramatic, and written art forms. First Covenant Church (400 East Pike St), 6 – 9p.
  • Little Fugitive: this 1953 film launched the New Wave movement and showed the way to independent production of cinema. Opens Friday and continues through April 4th at Northwest Film Forum, 7p and 9p.
  • The Gingerbread House: a “pitch-black comedy” in which parents decide to sell their children so the adults may live unencumbered and free of materialism. Thurs, Fri, Sat through April 30th. Theater Schmeater (1500 Summit Ave), 8p.
  • Verse-Chapter-Verse events intermix an author reading with musical performances. This edition features Sherman Alexie reading from Blasphemy: New and Selected Stories, and musical guest Fly Moon Royalty. GA and VIP tickets available. VIP gets you a cocktail and a seat. 6 – 8p.
  • Spring Ritual Party encourages wild costumes and features Luz Elena of Y La Bamba and DJ Lux. Love City Love (1530 Melrose), 9p.
  • The Moisture Festival returns to Capitol Hill. All weekend.

Saturday March 30

  •  The Great Cal Anderson Egg Hunt 2013. Commenters suggest getting there early for the 10am  hunt. Family fun activities continue until noon at Cal Anderson Park.
  • Small Press Expo: APRIL Fest’s annual book fair is where you can buy direct from the small publisher. Throughout the day will be readings and performances, and the bar will be open! Richard Hugo House, 11a – 4p.
  • Play more analog games: celebrate International TableTop Day by playing games, on, um, the table tops at Raygun Lounge. International TableTop Day is blessed and knighted by the top geek king and queen (aka Wil Wheaton, Felicia Day). All day!nerdy dancing
  • Nerdy Dancing: a free glow-in-the-dark, geek-themed dance with freebies from event sponsors including Theo Chocolate, Bacardi, Red Bull and more. Must RSVP via Yelp to get on the list for entry. Q Nightclub, 6 – 9p.

Sunday, March 31

  • Adult Easter Party with door prizes from The Crypt. Lobby Bar, 3 – 8p.
  • Countdown to Broadway Farmers Market: 3 weeks
