CHS Community Post | Did you see February 9th collision on Madison?

Please contact Shane if you can help.

A friend of mine was hit by a reckless cab driver while in her car on February 9th, at 1pm on Madison Street between 22nd and 23rd Ave East, right in front of the Safeway. As I recall the cabbie pulled a u-turn in the middle of the road and drove right into my friend’s car. Despite there being a bus full of witnesses, the police chose to take the contact info for just one of them. The cab driver contested the charges, and the witness mysteriously died on the day of the hearing—cause unknown. (And no I’m not pitching a script here, this appears to have actually happened.)

Given the circumstances, the prosecuting attorney will probably be able to set up a new hearing, but likely only if they can identify some other witnesses. Looking at Google Maps, it looks like it’d have been bus 11 or bus 84.

If any potential witnesses need their memory jogged, my friend is female, about 5’10” and skinny, with curly dark hair, and she looks like she’s in her late 20s or early 30s. She was driving a white BMW sedan heading east on Madison at the time of the collision, and she was a resident on the Hill for several years at least before moving to Charleston just a few weeks ago. It was a Yellow Cab driver that hit her.
