Dear 20-something girl in the blue scrubs on the corner of 13th and Howell,
Owing a small dog, such as your chihuahua, does not example you from the scoop your poop rule. You own a dog, you need to carry bags to pick up their waste. I stared at you long enough that you either turned around to avoid me or to pick up the waste. I didn’t wait around long enough to see, but I know you caught my meaning clearly.
Sincerely yours, Fellow Pet Owner

Cuz I think I picked up her dogs poop this morning.
TONS of people in Cap Hill (esp at Broadway and E Aloha) don’t clean up after their dogs. At least once a month I get poop on my shoes. Where is the enforcement? Where is the decency? Where are extra garbage cans that would encourage more people to clean up after their dogs?
This sort of injustice clearly warrants the death penalty.
I’ve gotten poop on my shoes more than once when exiting a car parked on the curb. It’s unfortunate and from my husband’s perspective: infuriating. It’s completely avoidable too.
It sounds like the same person who lets her dog poop in my garden! She just avoids eye contact when I catch her.
Next time, if you have a cellphone camera or normal camera, take their picture and post it online. Maybe we can publicly shame them into cleaning up after their dogs.
really. Wesa, why beat around the bush? We want video next time.
I was riding my bike, a bit hard to dig into my backpack and pull out my phone. Next time though, I will try to bring my camera and put the strap around my neck for ease of use.
Forget putting it on the internet, print a pic out and staple copies to telephone poles. I want to do the same thing to the chick who always pushes her cart home from Trader Joes and leaves it in front of her apartment building.
Hey hipster capital hill smoker types – just because you’re smoking outside and your cigarette butts are small doesn’t give you the right to throw them on the ground, my sidewalk, in the alley, etc.
It’s littering. Dumb-asses.
Get it out of your system, jcricket. Go ahead — this is your safe place.
I hate that.
Our neighbors let their dogs run around off-leash. The dogs come to our backyard and take shit or pee. The owners don’t bother to pick them up. Our backyard started smelling like a dog park. We talked to them so many times, but they say they don’t know if their dogs leave the shit in our backyard. They have seen coyotes in the neighborhood…This is CAPITOL HILL!
We wish we could take some action like calling Animal Control, but we are afraid of possible retaliation.
I am a dog owner, too (Chihuahua, but we are not the ones who leave poops!), but I always pick up after her and I never let my dog go into a private property.
There are times when I feel like Grandpa Simpson :-)
But seriously, I have a dog, and always clean up after it. I even feel bad when he’s pooping on the lawn with someone who has just pulled up to their house (or is visible in the window). I also never leave any of my trash (i.e. a Tully’s cup) in someone else’s property.
But the smoking thing is mind-boggling. It’s like a return to the 70s when I remember people just opening their car windows and chucking trash out.
