outdoor seating: everybody’s doing it!

I wandered down to Pike Street Fish Fry today and was surprised to see four wooden two-person tables bolted to the building’s outside wall. While it was definitely nice to have seating options (the single indoor table was being used as a food-prep area), it isn’t the most pleasant sidewalk meal I’ve had — the street outside is always more than a little trashy, and I was just lucky that the wind was blowing the odor of roadside dumpster away from me and not towards me.

Is it just me? It seems like a less-than-desirable solution to the close quarters inside Fish Fry, though I’m sure the tables are a welcome outdoor escape spot for Moe Bar and Neumos customers.

…they were installed for a more inebriated diner. to me those would be the only people who’d be willing to put up with the aroma of warm, sour dumpster booze.

but i’m not a fan of theirs anyway. for a place that promotes itself as “fish fry”, they’re not very good at it (i will admit i like the fried lemons). while a bit pricier, my suggestion, if you are in that area, would be to just go to quinn’s and get the fish and chips there.

The aroma will be even nicer when there is a tour bus parked there spewing diesel fumes in your face.

This is actually the second time they put those seats there. The first time they removed the next day. Might have been related to them covering the fire department water inlet – clever.

The seats do halve the amount of sidewalk, but it’s not like Neumo’s needs to accommodate a couple of hundred people lining up on the sidewalk for an event – oh, wait
