Villa Apartments Obama Art

As J reported a couple weeks back, the orange wall of the Villa Apartments overlooking the dog run between Pike & Pine will soon display some Obama inspired art. The plan is for the art to go up on Wednesday at 1 PM, weather permitting. I was hoping to make it down there to shoot some footage for my next CHS-V story, but it turns out I can’t get the day off work. So if any of you can make it down there at 1 PM on Wednesday, and get some video or photos that you’d be willing to share with me I’d really appreciate it, and so would CHS-V which will be just that much better with the extra photos/ video!

The story is going to focus on the abundance of Obama inspired art that is all over the hill right now, from the mural on 12th, to the Obama inspired Cafe Vita posters. If anyone has any other examples, large or small, please let me know. Or if you think you have some interesting insight into the topic please also let me know, maybe I will be able to work in your ideas, or even interview you for the story.

Here’s a link J’s original post

And a Capitol Hill Times story on it.

I will update this post, and post a twitter message (I still can’t ‘tweet’ with a straight face) if anything changes with regards to the time/date of the installation, in case anyone is planning on heading down there.

UPDATE – The installation has been postponed due to sleet. May be rescheduled for next week, or possibly early January.

Everyone realizes he hasn’t actually done anything yet, right?

I think what he has accomplished just from his 2 year campaign alone is enough for praise, though perhaps not murals. Obama now stands for a set of ideals and dreams, not unlike the similar set of feelings that MLK Jr evoked in his fans.

they’re the people who put up the obama art around the city for the most part.

Nice work. I’ll swing by to get some video on my sweet and shaky hand cam.
