Old guy with colorful fabric and long hair

Who’s that guy who I see all over the place?
With long white hair and a curly beard
And rainbow fabric windmilling from both arms
A goofy smile, thick glasses
Hoolahooping at Cal Anderson, raving at decibel

Promised I’d introduce myself
Next time I saw him
But
I haven’t seen him for like a month.

He’s just that old hippie dude. His mind is probably thoroughly blown, but he seems happy.

You are talking about Boe Odissey! Lots of people refer to him as “the scarf dancer.” I met him last year at the CHS blog holiday potluck and he’s not nearly as “out there” as I had assumed he would be. (Another ass-u-me lesson for me.)
You can also find his name on a street sign: he adopted a stretch of 15th just north of Pine as part of the city’s Adopt A Street program.

He is very sweet and will teach you how to tie a sarong so that it won’t fall off while you are dancing in the park!

This man has been part of OUR neighborhood for years. He’s very interesting and also a very talented artist. Get to know him before you judge.

I see that guy at every bumpershoot/pridefest/gathering in the seattle area. He’s amazing. I love that guy.

But you know who else gets me…. the guy that always dye’s his beard to match his velvet clothing. Who is he?

Or the guy that dresses like Link from Zelda?

What about Dee Dee Rainbow? She rocks almost as hard as Mr. Patches.

And I haven’t seen “Conan” in an age. Whatever happened to him???!?!?! (ripped guy with strappy sandals, tan, long hair, and a broadsword on his back, even at QFC)

I think the dyed beard guy you mentioned is known as Purple Mark. I’m still hoping we name a park after him: Purple Mark Park just makes me smile.

That Purple Mark guy is cool! I totally want to be his friend. I see him all the time at the film festival and actually talked to him. He’s really nice.

Is he the guy that wears skirts with bells hidden in them? Everytime I see him (which is almost everyday) he makes me smile.

I have seen him at the cash register before, I think he is sporting orange lately. Plus he walks down Olive, so maybe on his way to work. I have seen jerry garcia man in the silky skirts too, he does seem nice and happy.
