We spoke to Billy Poll, the listing agent for the vacant space at 401 15th Avenue East previously occupied by Tilden, who confirmed that the space has just been leased. He urged us to speak to the future tenant’s representative, Marina Kabatskaya of Ewing and Clark, who could only confirm that a restaurant would be occupying the space. We urge you to put on your thinking hats and provide your best guess as to who the future occupant of this prominent 2660 sq ft space will be.
Our best guess (and abiding hope) is that the new tenant is Txori. We know that owner Carolin Messier has speculated about reopening this beloved Belltown tapas spot on 15th Avenue. However, this amount of space is more than triple the square footage Txori occupied in Belltown (812 sq ft).
Who would be a good fit for this space?
It’s another covert starbucks!
What about Skillet Diner or Terra Plata.
I live on 14th and Harrison and I think a Cheesecake Factory, with its dynamic menu’s and perfect portion sizes, would be a perfect fit in the neighborhood; or maybe an ARBY’s.
I heard it is going to be a Taco Bell
Yo Quiero! I would go to that taco bell in a heartbeat..there needs to be a cheap late night joint up there–sans drive through–please make it happen!
I believe his name is Billy Poll.
You know, an Olive Garden would be fantastic! Or even a Starbucks?
But really, I’d love to see a sushi place!
I don’t know how to describe this best but how cool would it be to open a fake starbucks, that looks like a non fake starbucks? Like an independent coffee shop that looks and feels much like a starbucks but is not. I can only imagine the wonderful press opportunities that bit of litigation could bring our corporate neighbor!
Hon – do you drink too much coffee often???
Fixed – thanks
How about a cool shoestore or clothing type thing or cool housewares in that space. Some that is open on the late side. Something that is not a restaurant/bar in the “difficult for children” store. Honestly, I don’t think I ever remembered the name. We always called it difficult store for children. Sometimes we’d add “with baskets” to the end of that, but in terms of directing people to 22 doors or remedy teas using that phrase worked like a charm.
how about an annex to smith for those crowded/busy weekend evenings?
It’s already rented to a food/drink establishment of some type. We just don’t know who.
I love Arby’s…
I hope the restaurant will be a locally owned/operated one, and not one of the mentioned national chains (Arby’s, Taco Bell, Cheesecake Factory)…they tend to be soul-less and tacky. 15th Ave E is a wonderful, calm, “classic Seattle” street and should have a unique neighborhood restaurant, not just another version of what is everywhere.
I would literally thank the magical bearded skyperson on my knees if txori moved there. Just around the corner from me.
*crosses self* Please oh great flying spaghetti monster, please let the basque come.
That would be awesome except that every single thing about smith sucks ass.
I just heard it’s Via Tribunali!
Try to keep up, ok? :)
