
Here’s this week’s roster of Capitol Hill-related music notes highlighting the unique, the free and the so-good-you-shouldn’t-miss.
- Thurs, April 8, 6PM – Sound Bite @ Showbox SoDo. The evening will be a local showcasing of 12 restaurants and 4 bands, with net proceeds going to benefit The Vera Project, ProStart and the WRASC. Come see Seattle bands Amsterdam, Sam Russell and the Harborrats, Velcro Mindset, and The Maldives, while supporting Capitol Hill restaurants Tango, Pike Street Fish Fry, Quinn’s, and more! Tickets are $13 advance, or $16 at the door; event is 21+.
- Fri, April 9, 9PM – Radio Free Seattle: Post Harbor, Candy Sound, Sea Cats @ Piecora’s at 1401 E. Madison. Former 2010 EMP Sound OFF! contestants Candy Sound and Sea Cats, and post rock band Post Harbor will be playing at The Back Room at Piecora’s. Come support young, local musicians!
- Sat, April 10, 8PM – “Cannons Hidden Amid Flowers” @ PONCHO Concert Hall, Cornish College of the Arts. Ivona Kaminska-Bowlby performs a recital of Chopin’s “B minor Sonata, Op.58,” and works by Maria Szymanowska, Karol Kurpinski, and John Field. Tickets are $18 in advance, $20 at the door.
- Local hip-hop duo Pearl Dragon and Sir Thomas Grey (better known as Champagne Champagne) have announced their 2010 national summer tour dates. They will begin in Tucson, AZ on May 1, stop by Seattle at Neumos on May 9, and end the tour at the Capitol Hill Block Party on July 23. - Capitol Hill’s newest nightspot, HG Lodge, will open for business this week in the location of the former War Room at 722 E. Pike Street. The public grand opening will be on April 9, featuring DJs Sean Cee, Soul One, Fourcolorzack, and Nostalgia B. CHS will have pictures from Tuesday night’s friends and family event in the meantime.
