Community Council Meets Tonight – Should bars serve booze all night?

Drop by the council meeting tonight to discuss the proposed Nightlife Initiative with the Mayor’s staff.  We had a great discussion with City Council Member Sally Clark at the July meeting and are hoping for another engaging conversation tonight.

I would love to see the “last call” rush to gulp that drink come to an end. I’m willing to bet that once the novelty wore off, you’d find many bars that go ahead and close at a predetermined hour because there’s not enough business. You’d still have places like Denny’s with a cocktail lounge serving screw drivers all night, but the production places like CC’s wouldn’t stay open, not that CC’s would be affected by this anyway…

Presently, there is just a four hour break when you can’t buy a drink. I can’t see what the pressure is to go 24 hours? I don’t drink much, and the current closing time suits me fine.

I guess I need to sort out all the pros and cons.

I am much more worried about how people survive without jobs … of course a few drinks might help, right out of the bottle … less expensive than a bar pour …

Sante, drink em up. (now how do I pay the rent?)
