So, let’s say there’s something on Capitol Hill you want, but you don’t feel like or can’t get it to your Capitol Hill home or workplace. Well, Kelly Milligan wants to get it for you.
“The idea came up a few days ago,” said Milligan. He saw some people carrying things down Broadway, and “I thought it would be more convenient if I got it for them.”
The deal is simple. Contact Capitol Hill Courier through Twitter @CHCService01 or email [email protected] and tell them what you went and where to bring it. They will show up with it as soon as they can, and you pay 25 percent on top of the order.
“Say you want a couple sodas that’s $5,” he explained, “I charge you $6.25.” What he gets is up to you, so long as he can fit it onto his bike (and its not drugs, alcohol or anything else illicit). “Maybe somebody wants some Dick’s burgers and they don’t want to go there,” he suggested. “I’ll get it for them.”![]()

Milligan works another job, so the hours are limited for now: 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, and 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturdays. He hopes to add hours, saying, “It’s in the development stages right now.”
Milligan is not your standard bike messenger. In fact, he said he has never done any courier work before. He moved to Capitol Hill a few months ago, and he has been riding his bike for a while now. He said he sees the service as a way to be part of the Hill.
“It’s an awesome neighborhood, and I can’t wait to get to know everybody,” he said.![]()

Kind of genius.
I doubt there is much of a market for paid delivery of 2 cans of soda or other similar items. In a pinch, water is fine.
I doubt this would be a very profitable job… maybe good for a little something on the side but not as a full time job.
it’s perfectly possible to work for a half hour and make only $2 or even less. And then there’s taxes…
Maybe it’s better if he charged by the kilometer instead?
I don’t know, I don’t think it’s doable but now it’s up to him to convince me the opposite.
I understand why, but it’s a shame that he can’t bring me some beer with that Dick’s burger!
CHC should also check out Zaarly for some more errands. Their site is basically built for the CHC’s of the world…
Here comes another dot-com bubble.
