When I came back from our trip last month, I was walking Pepper up to Rex to get him groomed and I walked past a new restaurant that had opened in the neighborhood called Momiji. There is always a new restaurant cropping up in our neighborhood and so I immediately put it on my list to try. Just as I was taking a mental note, a friend reached out looking to have dinner on Cap Hill. Well, there we are – Momiji here we come. This is an inventive, delicious restaurant for sushi.
Although I am not a huge fan of traditional sushi, they have other dishes to please non-sushi lovers – interesting salads, tempura, ribs, fillet, etc. So, if you are not a huge fan of sushi, but your partner and/or friends are, Momiji is a good choice because there is something to please just about everyone.
We had a group of 6 and we were seated in a booth that fit all of us comfortably, but I would suggest giving your jackets for coat check as there isn’t a lot of extra room for coats and purses. The service was quite good, especially given our haphazard ordering. The waitress caught everything we ordered – drinks included – and served it up without too long of a wait. You can see that the sushi rolls are made fresh behind the bar area and so it’s worth the wait.
We enjoyed a tasty meal which included: edmame, miso soup, a beet salad, dumplings, tempura, ribs, and sushi rolls. I think the Sounders Roll was the absolute best!
We also enjoyed dessert at Momiji, which is a bit unusual for me as I usually don’t think of sushi restaurants as having a very good selection. Don’t make that mistake at Momiji – they offer beautiful ice cream and tropical fruit sorbets and interesting desserts, like the Green Tea Tiramisu – which is so light and fluffy. Just delicious. We paired this with a lychee sorbet which was truly refreshing.
All of us enjoyed Momiji and I would highly recommend it to you – cool vibe, delicious food, and good times!
