CHS Community Post | Seattle Yoga Arts Pays Yoga Forward

IMG_7771Dismayed that the yoga mat has become a symbol of upper class privilege for many, Seattle Yoga Arts has rolled out a PAY YOGA FORWARD program for the month of November. Yoga should be accessible to everyone, but we know all too well that not all of those who would like to attend a class can afford to do so.

That’s why the Seattle Yoga Arts community has come together to offer free yoga classes to those in need. Here’s how it works. Those who wish to donate a class can purchase Pay Yoga Forward passes for a discounted rate of $10. They complete a gift card and hang it on the display wall in the lobby of our 15th Avenue studio. Those who are in need of a no-cost class can then come to the studio and use a generously donated gift card to take a class with fellow students.

The program was inspired by a Philadelphia-based pizza shop, whose customers purchase $1 pizza slices for the homeless and others who are in need.

Pay Yoga Forward passes can be purchased at Seattle Yoga Arts or online at https://clients.mindbodyonline.com/classic/home?studioid=8657.
Class passes must be purchased and redeemed by November 30, 2015.
