Capitol Hill Community Post | Seattle Public Schools announces first round of community meetings on boundary changes for 2017-18 school year

AA_MS_2017_20151210_0723_MeanyFrom Seattle Public Schools:

SEATTLE-As part of the growth boundaries approved in 2013, there will be boundary changes for 18 attendance area elementary and nine middle schools in Fall 2017. These changes help balance enrollment and create attendance areas for new schools opening in the 2017-18 school year.

The changes were approved by the Seattle School Board on November 20, 2013. Each year, community meetings are held to review the approved boundaries and collect additional feedback from the community.

Meetings are being held in April 2016 to begin sharing information about the boundary changes that will be implemented for the 2017-18 school year. Additional meetings will be scheduled for fall 2016.

That’s a big walk zone! If you are walking or biking with your kids to school (or letting them) consider trying out the Central Area neighborhood greenway that is prioritized for the safety of people walking and biking: http://www.seattle.gov/transportation/centralgreenway.htm
