- Standoff arrest: A man was booked into King County Jail for making threats to kill in an incident that started outside Harborview and involved a police standoff at an E Remington Ct residence near Seattle University Tuesday night. SPD reports officers responded to the disturbance in the 1200 block of East Remington around 7:30 PM after multiple callers reported a man was screaming, throwing items and banging on walls in an apartment building:
At approximately 7:30 p.m., officers arrived and spoke with victims who said they were in fear for their safety, when the suspect began screaming threats to kill and damaged nearby vehicles. Police contacted the suspect at his apartment, but he refused to step out and appeared to have barricaded himself within the apartment.
Negotiators responded to the scene and assisted in communicating with the suspect who exited his apartment and was placed under arrest without incident, according to SPD. - 12th/Denny shooting: A person reported shot along 12th Ave just minutes after midnight on January 1st turned out to have fortunately suffered only injuries from shattered glass in a bout of New Year’s Day gun violence after a conversation between friends reportedly turned violent. According to SPD, around 12:15 AM, the two victims in the incident were driving northbound on 12th and made a u-turn in the intersection of 12th/Denny:
Once turned around one of the victims saw a friend of a friend and they pulled over to talk. The conversation escalated and the suspect female returned to her car and grabbed a pistol. The victim driver saw this and began to drive away. The suspect female then began to discharge her firearm at the victims, striking the passenger window and side several times.
Police say they found no spent shell casings at the scene. A search of the area for the suspects was not successful. There were no arrests reported. - Cal Anderson false alarm: A massive Seattle Fire and police response to Cal Anderson was called off Monday night after a repeat bogus 911 caller reported a person had fallen down a deep utility hole in Cal Anderson Park.
