Seattle’s chances of significant snow have dried up but city and Regional Homelessness Authority ready for cold

The chances of significant snowfall in Seattle this weekend have all but melted away but the city is still in line for a cold snap. National Weather Service forecasters say a predicted storm is likely to bring heavy snowfall far south of Seattle into Oregon as temperatures here dip into the low 20s.

The City of Seattle and the King County Regional Homelessness Authority say they are prepared for the cold:

The City and its partners are prepared to respond to this weather event and as needed will be ready to deploy snow plows to critical routesrestore power in case of outagesprovide places for people to get indoors, and inform our community of how to prepare.

Community members are advised to avoid or delay travel if possible, on Friday and Saturday. If you must travel, check road and transit conditions before beginning your trip and prepare for possible delays. Take winter travel safety precautions: keep an extra flashlight, food, water, warm clothing, and a way to communicate with you and in your vehicle in case of emergency.
