A series of summer concerts in Volunteer Park begins Thursday night. It is time for the July Capitol Hill Art Walk and the Queer & Trans Film Festival 2025. Here’s a look a few calendar highlights from around Capitol Hill this week. For more, check out the CHS Calendar.
- THURSDAY — Summer Series at the Amphitheater and Picnic in the Park — Volunteer Park — Join us for the kickoff concert of Summer Series at the Amphitheater, featuring an evening with The Paperboys and the Stacy Jones Band on Thursday, July 10th from 6:00-8:30pm. We will also be hosting our annual Picnic in the Park! Bring a picnic, your blanket, and your friends and family. There will be free ice cream and activities for kids. Food trucks will be onsite, including Oskar’s Pizza, Taco Cortes, Spooky Dogs, Canela, and Kathmandu MoMoCha. Admission is free and open to the public. We can’t wait to see you there. Reserve a ticket here (not required but it helps us predict crowd size for each show).
- THURSDAY — July Capitol Hill Art Walk — The monthly second Thursday art walk returns for a summer edition with special activities in the Chophouse Row courtyard and a dance party at E Union’s Passable Art.
- FRIDAY — Pitch the Baby Grand Opening — 600 19th Ave E — The new Capitol Hill women’s sports bar is ready to turn on the game and serve up a few cold ones: Cozy pub. Fierce fans. Women’s sports always on tap.
- SATURDAY — Gullet Stuffer VII — Grocery Outlet MLK Way — Seattle’s finest eating competition and community fundraiser, Gullet Stuffer, returns for its 7th annual event!
Where: Central District Grocery Outlet Bargain Market parking lotWhen: Saturday July 12th from 7-10PMWho: Two groups of 10 brave “athletes” will take on as many gyoza as they can in 10 minutes. They’ll be joined in support by small businesses and musical artists from the surrounding area.Why: The event serves as a fundraiser for volunteer powered mutual-aid group Seattle Community Fridge. All proceeds go straight to SCF! - ALL WEEKEND — Queer & Trans Film Festival 2025 — Broadway Performance Hall and Erickson Theater — Get ready to party like it’s 1996! This year, Three Dollar Bill Cinema is turning back the clock and turning up the volume with a fierce, joy-filled retrospective at the Queer & Trans Film Festival 2025—July 10–12 at Broadway Performance Hall and Erickson Theater. We’re uniting the legacy of the Seattle Queer Film Festival and TRANS|lations to celebrate 30 years of queer cinema and 20 years of trans storytelling. That means iconic shorts and features from festivals past, a brand-new lineup of trans-made and trans-led short films, and a spotlight on the brilliant local voices that shaped our scene. No virtual fest this year—so mark your calendar, grab your crew, and get ready to celebrate the stories that made us.
- ALL WEEKEND — GreenStage Presents FREE Shakespeare in the Park — Volunteer Park — FREE Shakespeare in the Park! Get ready for a summer full of family fun and FREE theater in the great outdoors all across parks in Seattle, Burien, Fall City, Vashon Island, and Lynnwood. GreenStage, Seattle’s longest-operating Shakespeare company, celebrates its 37th season of Shakespeare in the Park with mainstage shows “MUCH ADO ABOUT NOTHING” and “RICHARD III” and our scaled-down Backyard Bard shows “A MIDSUMMER NIGHT’S DREAM” and “THE TAMING OF THE SHREW.” The season runs July 11 –August 16.
