The Capitol Hill Community Council is marking the one year anniversary of its revival next week with a September meeting featuring Seattle City Councilmember Joy Hollingsworth.
The CHCC will be having its 1 Year Anniversary meeting September 24th 6:30-8pm at Seattle Central College (map) (and streaming and details). The first anniversary is traditionally paper, which seems fitting given all the posters that have been put up around the neighborhood. The first meeting you might recall was the September 10th 2024. Even though it was the same night as the only Harris-Trump debate, so many people showed up that the CHCC had to turn people away.
The District 3 representative will be fresh off her work leading the council comprehensive plan committee to the finish the line for the city’s next 20-year growth plan and ready to dig in on her part in the council’s end of year budget work.
The community council, meanwhile, says it has been busy in its first year passing bylaws, electing officers, and, yes, “redoing the bylaws.”
Nobody said building community was easy.
If you can’t make the September session, the community council has quite a few upcoming opportunities to get involved:
If you can’t make Wednesday’s meeting you can check out the CHCC Calendar, attend their October or November First Thursday Happy Hours, check out the Candidate Forum Sept 29 and the Mayoral Debate Oct 21st (more to come on that).

Hold it outdoors at the steps of the Harvard Market. It’s very inviting.
yeah she’s getting voted out ASAP
Lol…On a sales tour. It’s election time.
We remember wanting to rollback minimum wage for “small business owners of 500 or less employees”.
My question is how many employees does she have? Then I can calculate the profits she’d reap.
The “growth plan” is short $309 million. The stole the Jumpstart money for housing and green energy for cops and CCTV and pet projects like Saka’s turn lane for his private school. $2 million for that baby! But we can’t meet a budget? Yes we can. But when you deliberately usurp the voters and add to the cost to the tax payers by fiat? No thank you.
CCTV? I wouldn’t trust her or Bruce to walk my dog down their gentrified streets of Medina. I hear MAGA shoots their dogs.
Look at her enjoying public spaces!
Does this count as community outreach CHS reported was going to happen regarding the closure of seven hills park earlier this month?
The Seven Hills closure, while it needed to happen, is pure window dressing, and the mayor and the council know it. It will accomplish two things for them: it will ensure an “out of sight, out of mind” situation until past the election for highly pissed off local residents so they will be less likely to boot out Harrell and Nelson. And it will delay the reopening of the park until the ground is nice and soggy, thereby naturally discouraging subsequent tent repopulation.
Notice how they have done absolutely nothing maintenance-wise since they put up the fence; not one Seattle Parks vehicle has been by to do any inspection or any work. Don’t let them sucker you into believing they actually care; it’s just more kicking the can down the road with zero real solutions.
And that’s it…You don’t sweep, then not sweep the mess. They left it there.
They have contactors that sweep camps of tents and debris. They don’t want to take labor away from moving tents. FIFA is coming.
Joy, Bruce and Ann should all walk down Broadway without their security detail sometime. 9am or 9pm – it’s a hot mess up here. Their efforts to clean up downtown for the tourists just pushed more junk into the neighborhoods their constituents live in.
Don’t forget Harvard and Boylston, especially by the library and the two LIHI buildings, which have become nothing more than warm, dry places for the addicts to use and deal.
The two buildings on Boylston are a mess, I’m sorry to say. Just yesterday afternoon, broad daylight and right in front of the apartment building entrance, were 8 adults hovering around foil. I heard one of them say to the others she’s going back inside soon and will let them in with her. No case manager present ?
Right… And the incompetent Progressive dreamers will make everything safe again. Right…
Yeah. Katie Wilson for mayor right?
MAGA Charmers are doing a great job creating homeless to begin with. Move along.
You’re soft and weak. It’s completely fine
Just the most absolutely most worthless council member ever
