T.J. Langley, an actor and apartment manager, who resided in Capitol Hill was found dead yesterday afternoon in the Glacier Peak Wilderness. CHS partner, the Seattle Times spoke to the Chelan County Sheriff’s Office regarding their search:
Lt. Maria Agnew said two searchers on foot spotted his body near Luahna Peak, above Boulder Pass, at an elevation of about 8,600 feet. It appeared he had lost his footing and fallen about 300 feet, she said.
According to Lt. Agnew, it was unclear whether Langley was on a marked trail when he fell. Langley worked as an apartment manager for Northwest Apartments on Capitol Hill and was also a member of Capitol Hill’s Repertory Actors Theatre. A decade ago, Langley survived a brutal mauling by a mother bear while hiking in Yellowstone Park.
He is listed as the apartment manager of the Embassy (Pike & Boren).
I didn’t know him, but I’m really sorry to hear about this. Several of my co-workers over the years have been hardcore climbers/hikers, and they often got called to go help find someone, rescue someone, help out in some way or another. People who get into it know it’s risky, but it’s still awful if something goes wrong.
I’d like to think that if I was falling 300 feet, I would be thinking, “Well, at least I was doing something I enjoyed…!”
Thanks linder – that provides a little more context
He was my apartment manager from 2004-2007 and I had to read this article twice to fully take in that it is actually him who died. Wow, I am speechless. Such a GREAT guy…he was fair, honest…always riding his bike…very adventurous. He lived on the same floor as me (1st). Very sad…thinking about family, his girlfriend..and his adorable big fat cat. I hope it goes to a good home. You will be missed.
