Like we've said before, summer means an increase in crime. Want a head's-up on what to watch out for around Capitol Hill? Just take a look at the crappy things that are happening in other neighborhoods. If this kind of stuff isn't happening around here yet, just wait.

Consider this your summer preview. Now go visit the CHS Good News Map to make yourself feel a little better.

You can already check off burglaries. 3 neighbors broken into in last month. Heard about at least 2 others around us. All between 19th and 23rd on prime blocks. Be cautious, lock your doors, make sure your car is locked. We also had 2 cars burglarized this past week as well. I doubt this is just a summer thing, its the economy stupid. More to come.

Macro trends, micro trends... Yeah, economic issues too -- but good weather and end of school year also means increase in annoying property crimes. Or, are you saying the economy was just fine this winter and spring?

I spent 9 summers in the Central District before moving to Fancy Pants Lane, and burglaries were never this bad. There are definitely macro trends at work, be they economical, political, generational, or other.

And yes, it's well established that crime rises with the temperature.

Are you all aware of any home burglaries in the Greenwood area? There is a pretty shady door-to-door salesman walking around for ICON offering up free security in the neighborhood....his pitch was other home invasions near us...
